Wreath of many pages.....

I almost forgot about this until I opened my own door and saw it there! The idea to make a wreath out of pages from a book came from a ladies blog that I can't seem to find anymore. But if you google " you made a wreath out of what?"....you'll find some pretty clever ideas. She actually used a dictionary, but I couldn't quite tear up Webster's so I tore up a rather huge 16 short novel book. It had nice white pages, and so did the trick.

It's base is a 8", round ice cream lid, covered in the same white pages. Glued some ribbon to hang it by, onto the back of the lid.
Roll each page so they have a pointy end, staple it at the bottom to hold it together, and hot glue them down onto the lid. Start at the outside and work your way towards the center. The closer tou get to the center, the shorter they are. I found a silk poinsetta laying around all lonely looking, so it got glued into the center along with a large pearl.

Entered in this weeks Simon Says Stamp challenge.

Bind It All Recipe Book

Well it's the middle of the week, middle of the celebrations, so this will be a quick post. I wish everyone a fabulous start to the New Year, and wish everyone blissful papercuts - if there is such a thing   ;)   and colorful, inky fingers.

I made this up for my Nephew who loves to bake with his Granny. I used my new Bind It All to make this recipe book for him. I was caught without a large enough binder, so a 1 1/4 inch is on order and I will be fixing that up and likely adding more pages for him to journal, add recipes, pictures etc on his own.

Merry Christmas - svg cuts

Merry Christmas Eve everyone!
I have a couple of svg cuts to share with you today. The cone is a circle cut, cut in half  and glued together to form a holder for it's contents. Embellished with a 3d Santa sticker, ribbons and bells. Filled with Christmas candies for a friends little tyke!

This is a truly amazing svg cut. From SvgCuts. I still haven't seen all the box styles offered in this Scal file yet. I cut two from a 12x12 sheet of double sided design paper. The cut is even perforated for easy folding. So all there is to do is fold and glue. The lighter design is glittered and so sparkly and pretty. It was just big enough to fit it the jewelry I put inside. Simply embellished with an svg cut poinsettia flower and a ribbon.

The other side of the paper is shown here on the right of the box.
Punching tissue paper proved to be a bit of a challenge, but worked well enough.

Hand Painted Lamp

A friend asked me if I could match the Sunflower already on the bottom part of this glass lamp. So I painted the top half with Folk Art Enamel paints. It's an adorable little lamp. Hope she likes it.

Merry Christmas - last 3

Happy Saturday. I think I've got all the Christmas cards done....unless I've forgotten about someone...hope not. So these would be the last 3.

Copper heat embossed onto designer paper, with an svg cut poinsetta - inked around the edges and a little glitter added too. The berries on the paper also glittered.

White heat embossed sentiment on designer paper. The candle is a digi image colored with Prisma pencils. And the poinsetta is the same svg cut.

Plain white cardstock inked with Distress inks.... tumbled glass. The sentiment and snowman Artisitc Outpost stamps - the snowman also clear heat embossed, and the snowflakes a Martha Stewart punch....coated with glossy accents and drizzled with some diamond dust for some awesome sparkle. Some distress diamond stickles on the little snowflakes and snowman twinkling eyes.

Merry Christmas - Ho Ho Ho - Tag #11

Well the Tims 12 Tags of Christmas is over, and we're less than 2 weeks away from Christmas. Man, I am not ready. Card making seems endless...but time never seems to be.....so I've combined Tim's Tag #11 into a card. I don't have a melting pot, so I've added some crystal gems instead to the green version. Inked a Santa's jolly face rather than his whole self, and this is what I've got. X 3.

This one a tad different from the first: Can you spot the difference?

Tim Tag # 9

For the first time, I'm playing along with Tim's 12 Tags of Christmas. Every day is a new tag and every day I learn a new tecnique. Tag #9 I learned that you can double heat emboss. It's not at all looking like what Tim has done with his, but I inked the trees with Pine Needles distress inks, then heat embossed with clear powder. The snowflakes I inked with Tumbled Glass and heat embossed with white powder.

The Deers were cut out from an old Christmas card. They had a photo like quality to it so I wasn't sure how well they would take to the heat embossing. Turns out they didn't warp or bubble, and took the heat quite well. Even the heavier embossing on the top of the deers head and antlers.

Happy Saturday! Hope it's a crafty one! I'm still working with Vellum and digi images. This time I punched a border with a Martha Stewart punch. And added an oversized bow.

Vintage Ladies

I just love love love these old vintage photos. The Ladies I got from Valerie. If you love vintage....you've got to check out her blog. But she also has a huge variety of interesting images you can save and print. Grab some coffee and plan to spend some time scrolling thru.

I printed these images on Vellum paper, pink, beige and a blue. And then glued them with my double sided tape to an embossed piece of  beige cardstock, and then the whole thing glued to a beige card. The flowers are a die cut from Tim Holtz - Tathered Florals, of white tissue paper, but colored with some Distress inks. ( via a press of ink on the craft mat, then spritzed with some water to make an inky puddle, and dotted the tissue in the puddle and dried with the heat gun.....it's a gentle process as wet tissue tears easily. Actually this tissue paper I used today came as packing tissue. It's just a little thicker with a shiny side to it, so it was pretty good to work with) Luckily, I had some good matching inks to match the dresses. Each Lady got just a little bit of Diamond Stickles on her dress or hat.

Merry Christmas - Vintage

Vintage Christmas

I experimented with printing these old images on vellum paper rather than the good ole cardstock. I loved the way they turned out.....the vellum enhancing the vintageness to them. I used a variety of colors. Pink, cream and blue. They are adhered to a piece of embossed cardstock, with clear double sided tape. A little sparkle stickles here and there, and a ribbon to finish it off. I didn't even touch my 'go to' distress inks...imagine that!

I'm also working on some beautiful Vintage Ladies. Once I get them finished, I'll be back to post those too.

Homemade Blocks for Unmounted Stamps.

Today I received my Frosted Friends stamp set from Artistic Outpost . I love them. But I didn't realize they would come on one sheet of rubber. Uncut and unmounted. Even tho the title did say unmounted, I just thought it came like the clear and cling stamps do. I didn't order any materials to build them into mounted stamps so I asked the girls on the Tim Holtz yahoo groups for some advice. They are good quality stamps, so I thought I would try make something of my own from the help over at ATT.  Here's a short tutorial: ( my very first)

To replace the wooden block that I should have,  I cut 2 pieces of chipboard for each stamp, out of this box I had saved. It was good and sturdy and rather heavy. The chipboard was corrugated, so I was careful that none of it was squished or it would make everything uneven. Or so I figure anyways.

The 2 pieces cut to be just a little larger than the stamp itself, and glued them together. This just gave the stamp a little more of a solid backing, plus gave my fingers a little more to hold onto while stamping.

Next I stamped the image with Archival ink onto the white side -for placement reference while stamping.

Once that was dry,  I white glued some fun foam to my block opposite the side of the stamped image. The foam was from the dollar shop and quite thin.

After each step along the way, I gave it a good flat press with one of my acrylic blocks.

I ran some double sided tape across the backside of the stamp.

I was careful to place it in the exact same spot as the stamped image. (but on the opposite side) That takes some eyeballing and lining up before pressing the stamp onto the block.
This photo is trying to show the stamp and the image lined up.

So there you have it. It took some time to do all of them. And I used materials I had on hand rather than waiting for another shipment to arrive. But now that that tuckered me all out....I guess I'll do all my planned stamping with them tomorrow. :0 So I'll see how it goes, and maybe one day order the proper stuff for mounting. But they do stamp perfectly and I'm happy with the results.

Merry Christmas - Bells and Deer

Digi stamps, Prisma pencils, Martha Stewart punches, gold embossing powders, Cricut cuts, versamarks, sparkles and DP paper....think I've used just about everything lol!
